MovieMaker is one of those programs that works (apart from when it crashes), but I can't for the life of me work out why you need it.

Not good for basic film editing..
Been looking for an iMovie alternative and found this and Video Editor MovieMator Pro, then bought MovieMator Pro. With many effects, MovieMator Pro is better for film editing. If you need basic editing (chopping video, change speed, fade in/out, merge-transition), MovieMator Pro is the one to get. Its really well laid out and its pretty intuitive.
